March: Sweet Lolita & Cutiness

Updates now and other plans for the coming month.

I found one of my lace stashes and got inspired to use some of those for the new creations. As I also have a strong intention to use the fabrics from my box, those that I have accumulated over the years, the new pieces are from now on are likely to be both colorful as well as combinations of many great fabrics.

Sweet Lolita Mix & Match skirts – Lillycat & MSD sizes

Are you ready for some light blue sweet lolita skirts? These perfect Tsukifly Mix & Match pieces are one of a kind (OOAK) creations with slightly different details, available in Lillycat and MSD size.

Lillycat Sweet Lolita skirt has a high waist part and three rows of ribbons on the back side. It can be worn on top or under a shirt/corset. Small bow ties are positioned randomly  on the skirt and hem decorated with two different laces. Made out of sturdy light blue taffeta the skirt maintains its shape and can be worn with or without a separate tulle skirt.

MSD sized sweet lolita skirt has a polka dot brown/mint fabric for the waist and sturdy light blue taffeta for the skirt part. This skirt fastens with snap fasteners at the back and can be worn similarly on or under a shirt/top. Hem is lined with minty lace and ribbon bow ties are similarly randomly sewn over the skirt part.

Tulle & Lace skirts – Various sizes

Because girls can never have enough skirts and because those skirts that can be used with many different outfits are great multipurpose pieces I decided to turn some of the tulle and lace fabrics into skirts as I found some excess tulle from the box. More sturdy and some soft. Different colors. Enough lace for a skirt is more of a rarity, thus I anticipate that there will not be too many of those to come.

There will be a soft beige tulle skirt, a mint lace skirt and a pink sturdy tulle skirt available through Etsy soon. Working on the listings as we speak. All those may be used as a petticoat or on their own. All have an elastic waist band and therefore they fit for various sized dolls. Each of the skirts also comes with a small bow tie detail.

So things coming up – keep checking Etsy, blog and Instagram ~

Valentine’s Day is coming

Valentine’s Day

It is February and time for hearts, chocolates, roses and cards. We in Finland don’t have a very strong Valentine’s Day tradition (to my knowledge) although shops are certainly taking all the commercial benefit they can get out of this special day.

SAMSUNG CSCTsukifly’s contribution was to add new lace tops made with similar design as the Tsukifly sapphire blue lace tops (one of the three is still available). These are pink in color, with pink lace and ribbon/bow tie details. Completed in four sizes: SD/SD13, Lillycat, DD M-Bust and Slim mini/MSD/Unoa. Hurry if you wish to secure a specific size as there is only one of each. Check Etsy.

Etsy sections rearranged

The sectioning of the Etsy shop seemed to be a bit off. Some of the products didn’t fit in any of the sections and as a result you could only see certain products through ‘All’. So I proceeded to take a mixed approach of having some sections with descriptive headings, some under the previous size headings. Now as all the products belong in one of the subsections they are more easily found. I hope you find it more user-friendly now~

New creations & Etsy additions

I might have said I should sew more for my own girls instead of Etsy. I did do something. While I am still unsure of Lunetta’s own style she got a pair of cute bloomers as I adjusted a pattern in MSD size. Now I should do the same for Lillycat / SD since my other girls (and perhaps Etsy too) would need few pairs of those. There are great fabric pieces in my closet for just that purpose. I wonder are bloomers to be sectioned under Mix & Match? Lunetta got a white lace top as well. Nothing too frilly as too much lace doesn’t seem to be “her thing”. She seems to have adopted a brass four leaf clover necklace to go with it.

Rein is getting a top made out of a lovely golden flower brocade (the same fabric that was SAMSUNG CSCused for Lillycat corset top) with a lace collar. It is short design with less ribbon / lace / bow tie things so I need to get used to the idea of not adding ‘everything’. Freya got a short tulle skirt as I aim for something in steampunk style. So I should hope my girls have been happy over the weekend to receive some of the frantic sewing creativity I had.

Currently in progress / to be expected:

A longer SD/SD13 dress with light blue & minty details, some bloomers and Mix & Match light blue sweet lolita skirts in MSD and Lillycat sizes to start with. Later there will be a dress in Pullip / Blythe size and a tiny sized kimono set, but these two will take more time as they are at the back of the list. We shall see. Also some pattern stockings coming up.

Hint: You might want to check Intagram for some in progress pictures ~

Weekends are generally for relaxing. Why not to have a break among all the sewing and enjoy a moment with a cup of quality tea and a piece or two of a lovely Leonidas mocha pearl white chocolate?

Gosick ゴシック by Kazuki Sakuraba

I have decided on a new approach with the blog.

I shall update once a week with a new post on something dolly related. Tsukifly/Etsy updates will still come once a month. Thus, there will be three updates per month, one of which is guaranteed sewing/Etsy/Tsukifly related.

Gosick ゴシック

A great new discovery!

Gosick (ゴシック) is a novel series by Kazuki Sakuraba. Just recently discovered by me as it appears to have quite many elements I am a fan of. In style of 1924 and set in a fictional European country of Sauville (or “Saubure” as in anime) located somewhere between France and Italy, an exchange student Kazuya Kujo discovers a mysterious girl, Victorique de Blois, in the the library. She has a brilliantly sharp mind and is frequently consulted by her brother Det. Grevil de Blois to solve tricky mysteries.together-1

Basically all the elements to keep me entertained. So lately I have been watching Gosick anime. There is quite a lot of manga to read. And then I  learned that it has been so popular that Volks and Groove have jumped on the opportunity already.

There are quite lovely Super Dollfies of Gosick main characters. Don’t they look nice together? Personally I must say Kazuya Kujo is just so nice. Yes. A boy too. Usually male dolls do not really work for me but Kazuya kinda tempts me. In his own disturbing way. Perhaps its the appeal of him being “the third son of the imperial soldier”?  The line Victorique regards so unconvinient as to thank Kazuya for not stating it too often.

These two look goood together. Did I say that already? Let’s speculate for a second. If I was to consider a boy in my crew I would probably go for Kazuya. Not because I like the series and character itself but because I like the features of the doll itself. A rare occasion. If he would not work as a boy the head would make a lovely girl too. The smile!

As such these dolls are not a news. They were made by Volks already in 2011. So quite a while back. Groove got around a while later than Volks what comes to Gosick related dolls. Kazuya Isul and Victorique Pullip came around. Of these two I think Victorique Pullip has together-1quite a lot of character.

While BJDs are my passion I am 10 times more tempted with those expensive Volks dolls than Groove’s Pullip adaptations but they are all quite well thought out. I am glad these theme dolls are made once in a while as it is great to see how they turn out to reflect the character’s of a specific series with their features and clothes. A complete set.

For me though, even if I were to get a doll which is a reflection of character in a specific series it probably would not stay as such. It would have to transform and become a character unique for me, with a name, style and story of it’s own. Otherwise it would not stay around for very long. My guess is.

I might just be inclined to add Kazuya on my long term doll wish list…
