A very special salad and a Milk Tea restock from Taiwan

Since when did my dolly blog turn into a food and lifestyle blog? Gradually apparently. (^o^;) Don’t worry, this is occasional but there are certain other things I like to share with you from time to time.

Let’s start with this very special salad. Since it was a gorgeous day on Friday, weather was sunny and warm, everything turning green and flowers blooming, I wanted to mark it somehow. As I love making different kind of salads I thought here I have a great opportunity. This is one of my special favorites with a very Finnish and local specialty called bread cheese (Originally from Southern Ostrobothnia, Northern Finland and Kainuu.).

Recipe (how to make your own):

Ingredients: 1/3 cucumber, chopped; any salad you like, the amount you prefer (I used oak leaf salad); a good slice of bread cheese (any other cheese will do as well); one spring onion, chopped; blueberries.SAMSUNG CSCAfter taking the ingredients out and chopping the ones that need chopping / slicing just put them together and a great salad is done for you to enjoy. Tip: if you like sweet, I would recommend some honey on top of the salad to give it extra sweet flavor.

I also had a great pleasure to stop by at the Post office on my way home to pick up a package from my dear friend Irene ~ When I was visiting her previously I was hooked to these Milk tea things. They are great in flavor and may be stored for quite a long while. Also work friendly, easy to take with you if only hot water is available. Apparently now they have new flavors (!!). I also got some nice fabrics to use for the dresses. These will go well with some of the fancy pattern fabrics I have or just on their own.

SAM_5560As you may guess these Milk Tea bags are not generally sold/available in Finland. So far I have found one place that has occasional stock of 3:15 PM brand, in one flavor only. And I know they have close to ten to choose from! Once I got home and opened the package my little fairy Junia went to inspect the pile of Milk Tea found from inside.SAMSUNG CSCThe amount of milk tea totally caught me off guard! Thank you dear!! Four different flavors to test and compare: Sun Moon Lake; Roasted; Early Grey and Matcha Latte from another brand (Barista Coffee).

Milk Tea Table – a comparison table

Roasted Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Most basic / traditional by flavor. Similar to black tea + milk with hint of added sweetness.

Early Grey Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Most distinct in flavor, Basis in Early Grey black tea, perhaps its the bergamot that makes the difference?

Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Sweetest flavor of these three. Flowerlike taste. Reminds me of the 3:15 PM Rose flavor. My favorite.

Matcha Latte (Barista Coffee) – Matcha is great in flavor, again sweetness comes with it. Less hassle compared to if you make your own Matcha all the way through. Not in a separate tea bag though, Matcha powder is loose in the bag itself. Need to watch out how to open.

Flavors and their descriptions are my interpretations of them. Perhaps they will serve as an indication what to expect / which one to choose depending on whether you prefer a more sweet or less sweet option. In any case I totally recommend you to have a try if you come across them somewhere.

Etsy’s January and dolly plans

Second update for the month. I feel like clapping my hands a bit. For both the joy of finishing these items as well as for the fact of having a second update for the month.

This is filled with photos of the new updates for Tsukifly’s Etsy shop. Some of the items were suppose to be there already for the previous month but due to health issues I was unable to finish any of the plans. Better late than never, right? So while I am home for few days I felt it was sufficient time to finish the projects.

My dear friend Irene greatly contributed to my focusing on Blythe size for the time being. It seems. Thank you so much dear once again~ ! So it did have a desired effect, right? Besides the Blythe socks ISAMSUNG CSC SAMSUNG CSCalready mentioned earlier I was able to finish the dress set properly with a tiny off-white tulle skirt to go with it. Easy to put on a doll with my new faves: hook & eye closure at the back. Ribbon details on both sides of the waist area. Now found on Etsy.

Personally it seems I am a fan of tulle skirts for my girls. Off-white is quite nice on Mella even if she has nothing else on her. That is the off-white tulle skirt under the red dress set. Appears SAMSUNG CSCto look like a normal white in the picture though. Natural light is rather minimal in Finland for this winter time. I might be inclined to offer some tulle skirts separately for Blythe/Pullip size in the future.

Looking something like this. But they shall come later when I get there. If someone would like one in a specific size please inquire. In general these have 4 layers of soft tulle. As there are some designs from before I may consider a first pre-order item out of these. I have a feeling they would answer the demand better that way. And I am kinda out of the space to keep all the pre-made items, haha.

Other Etsy highlights for the month are a Dust of Dolls polka dot dress set with a similar off-white tulle skirt to go with the white/colorful polka dot one-piece dress. A snap fastener at the back and flower themed lace as a detail. Bubbla (my little model did give me some hard time – refusing to stand as my model u_u). Last pair of Tsukifly patterned stockings for Etsy. Second one in MSD size, the other longer stocking pair travelled within Europe already. These are short socks with ribbon details. And I like how the socks look with Lunetta’s shoes. I feel kinda tempted to keep them for her too…

Speaking of keeping the things I sew… I have a feeling I should sew things to keep for my girls as well. Etsy has got the majority of the things I have made during Autumn and now so my girls haven’t got any of the things they might need. Except for perhaps the other ofSAMSUNG CSC the two finished kimono projects as I resolved to keep the other for Freya for the time being (she has no other full outfit at the moment either…) To add under the kimono I wanted to finish a lace top for her, similar to those in Etsy.
The top is in off-white to match with her cute panties I bought from Taipei’s doll fair already two years ago. At the time I didn’t have a clue for who they would be for. Now I am very pleased with the combo. A new wig as well. Lovely color -Usagihime’s if I don’t remember entire wrongly.

Also Lunetta got a new cute wig of which I will not add a picture just yet. She is my next target, still without a proper “own” outfit. I haven’t got a clue what kind of style I would like for her except for the shoes perhaps. A dress, short and tulle/lace details are in my mind. Have to sketch a bit. Even the color I would like for her is a mystery still.

I will get to consider something for her within the limits of my already too full fabric box. I need to use more of the ones I have instead of losing myself in fabric stores all over again…

Darker fabrics appear to make quite a nice contrast with Lunetta’s fair white skin. White or pink is no no, too light and does not quite suit her character either. I have a feeling this will require some time.

Monthly update: May

I am back with both Pullip and BJD related news.

Glad to share with you that Sarinna (First Tsukifly custom pullip set) has found a new owner and encouraged by this I have sketched new plans for at least two new customs in the future. Themes for them are water and fluffy (I am aware these do not reveal very much..). However, first on the list is to acquire certain things for them before proceeding further.

saringoodbye

I had a pleasure of completing a commission outfit for a Pullip. Colors included brown and white combination with lace details. Personally I am happy how it turned out with all its details. Later on it might just pop around as a part of a set.

Highlight of the week was when my dear friend Solarsenshi came to visit in Finland! Besides having a wonderful time (Thank you dear!) we had a meet-up and interesting food experiences. I received amazing gifts as well. So cute! My wish included Haagsche Hopjes, those wonderful coffee candies from the Hague (I am finally able to fill their respective box). Super happy about everything. Really cute flower dress in SD size will fit most of my girls and will be great for the coming summer – I think I have a matching straw hat somewhere… Few pairs of amazingly detailed (and so small!) Pullip sSAMSUNG CSChoes!

Souldoll is taking ages (or it certainly feels like it) as I would be happy to receive my new MSD model home right about now. Not even sure if the whole of the waiting time has already elapsed (probably not) but somehow the waiting feels loooong. It has been a while since I have waited for a doll straight from a company… Her name will be Lunetta but it remains to be seen how she will fit in with my other girls.

Other updates: A Soom Sweet Witch (Grey skin) and Fairyland Minifee Mio (Normal Skin) are actively searching for new homes (through Den of Angels) as they do not seem to find their place within the crew. Freya is in need for a wig that would be in the right size. Vanamo got a super cute bunny cape and there is a lovely milk wig for some future plans.

I updated pictures of some of the Tsukifly headbands. Perfect for a complete summer look. Some of the pieces are available through Etsy, more will be added later.

To come: I will update few random shots of my girls later. To make a sort of introduction to their current looks. There is also a commission for Leekeworld Art body in progress… Inspirational times. Few ideas for accessories I need to try out…

Thank you for reading!
