October was for Lillycat size

The header tells it pretty well. During October my sewing table was mainly filled with fabric pieces aiming to complete dresses in Lillycat size. Still there are few unfinished but I am slowly getting there.

Do you know it when you have an amazing plan and it does not quite work out the way you had visioned? That has happened few times now. A pouch thing I was trying out… Did not quite work out. I know why, isn’t that why you make prototypes, try out, fail, adjust and eventually succeed? YES. Trial and Error.

Eden lace was a success. I have been storing that minty lace for ages now. There was also no logic in the way I had stored it. The lace was in one place, those “sleeves” I had already cut some time ago, where in another place. I was almost cutting another pair but managed to find them just in time. I am happy how the dress turned out. The color combo is calming with a hint of mint.

Take a further look at Eden Lace. The sleeves and the upper part of the skirt is from the lace with a hint of chocolate (brown color). White corset style upper part, details with delicate vintage lace, beads and bow tie. Around the waist I have used heavier lace in Turquoise color. The skirt has underskirt from a one coloured mint fabric. Hook and eye closure on the back side keeps the dress on its place. Sleeves are from the lace with elastic lace on top to keep the sleeves at the height you prefer.

Around the same time as the Eden Lace I had a moment I wanted to make some necklaces. So “Bottled” necklaces where made. Nothing too unique it seems but I enjoyed making them and hope you find them nice additions for any outfit. Lots of different colors and fillings available here. My favorite one is the round one with clear/white diamonds and dragonfly detail. That was to be expected, no?

Halloween was not successful this year in the sense that I was not able to complete the special dress plan I had. It seems to come as a surprise to me. Every time. I have planned to finish a Halloween special dress for years but haven’t so far managed in time. I need to make a mental note that the Halloween is (for me) a month earlier. So at the end of September I should have planned – preferably also completed the Special dress with Halloween theme. With you as my witnesses I shall make the promise to try this in 2019. I have the broom planned already! And it will most likely be in MNF/Unoa size.

As we are already in November I want to mention the latest Etsy addition as well. After having a pink period it seemed appropriate to reflect it somehow in my creations. So, Softest touch was created. First Tsukifly Art line dress, where higher quality evening gown fabrics were used.

Softest touch has a corset style upper part is from a rosy silk fabric, which catches the light in delightful way. I used a piece of delicate pink lace and antique rose ribbon to create bowtie details in front and on the sides of the dress. The skirt has amazing glittery tulle on top, pink satin one colored fabric as a second layer. Hook and eye closure on the back side. The dress will come with the black elastic lace highlight choker which has a crown detail.

There are tons of things on my table that need to be completed. If there is something you would like to wish for, some specific size/style etc. I am always happy to hear. While I cannot promise I can complete your wishes anytime soon, I am sure to keep them in my mind for future. So keep me posted ^-^

And I want to thank you for your continuing support. I love all those reviews and pictures you have written and sent me. Thank you! *Hugs*

Summer turning towards Autumn

Hiya everyone!

It has been a rather hot summer, even in Finland. My solution was to seek lower weather temperatures from Northern Finland but I am afraid I did not succeed in that very well. It appeared to be even more hot there during the time I was around… Oh well. I had a wonderful summer holiday in any case. Although, I must admit I didn’t get much done. I say it was because of the weather, lack of materials around and all the other stuff taking my time. So now is time to settle back home and concentrate on sewing and planning.

I did manage to do some doll related things for my own girls. They have been somewhat neglected for quite a while. Just to see how much I managed to create the following list:

freyamani

  1. Freya (Lillycat Ellana) got a lovely upper body blush and manicure. I absolutely love how she is more lively. A big thanks to my friend who assisted with her blushing and got me around doing it.
  2. Yuiko (Unoa Elder Ange) got the same treatment as Freya. I have been eyeing on her hands ever since she arrived and finally got around to do something for them. Tiny remnants of some red color really bothered me between her nails. Leftovers of her previous “life”.
  3. Junia (Soom Minigem Juchy) got a lovely blushing on her wings and fairy legs. I need to search for tiny S-hooks to get her legs on, in the mean time I enjoy seeing her with just those gorgeous wings. I don’t think the first try own made mohair wig looks all that bad either. So cute little fairy I have ^-^
  4. Mili arrived (Soom Picro) and she also has a gorgeous blushing, her fantasy parts shaded with yellow. I got around naming her. I am still undecided as to her style and wig but time will show. Her name comes from a specific coral name in Latin.

So I think I have done something with my own dolls. More than usual at least. Now I want to take pictures of them. So will be spamming flickr, instagram and this blog.

Above few pictures of Mili as I took her outside. And yes, I would like to do the same with all my dolls but who knows when I will get around to do it…

Etsy shop has new additions in Dust of Dolls size. Night Dust dress (picture 1 from left), Yellow violet polkadot bloomers (picture 2) and a combo picture of all three dress additions for Dust of Dolls over the summer. Check both Mix & Match and Dust of Dolls sections to find the above from Tsukifly Etsy.

Other new additions include a walolita styled outfit set for Unoa / MNF / Slim mini sized dolls modeled here by Yuiko (Unoa Elder Ange). The outfit consists of two parts, Kimono styled shirt ending above belly and a high-waist skirt with tiny details in front. The skirt is made by using the pattern also available through Etsy. Dress set here and the pattern here.

Then we have Riri (Pureneemo Aika) who is showing off the pureneemo/Blythe/Pullip outfit set which comes with a Tsukifly diamond deer band. Take a further look here.

To be expected // Coming Soon

Now I am working on a Pullip custom, she will be available I hope at the end of August. Currently planning her wig and outfit. Just completed a nice box for her.

There will be a set of different sized simple petticoats made from a golden tulle coming in later this month.

I am also working on a sale post to be posted on this blog. Just to keep track of all the second hand dolly stuff I have for sale. It will be easier for you to see them as well. I will also have separate sale post for some of the items on different Forums, Facebook and Intagram. Btw, if you would like to add me as a friend on Facebook, you can find me with ID Sofia Tsukifly.

May recap

Time for the all inclusive May update!

I have completed several sewing projects over the last months so again an image heavy recap of everything is about to follow. Additionally it seems my writing schedule has shifted from the beginning of the month to the end of the month. Personally I think its functioning better that way.

Here are the pictures of the Circus Life dress, the other dress in Unoa/MNF/Slim mini size which I completed along with the pink dress set. Find it on Etsy.

I have worked on some of the older listings adding new pictures and updating the information. It has been quite a warm weather in Finland after the 1st of May so lots of sunshine. I have also chosen to keep myself from going out too much, I think I need a frilly parasol or something against the heat if this goes on for longer time. I am waiting for summer rain and thunder. I know it is already lurking.⛈️

Sakura trees bloomed and everything turned green over one week. Spring is my favorite season. Lively and full of colors after dark winter.

I took Rein outside although I admit I also wanted to get some pictures of the new DD dress, Bird of Paradise. A full dress set with a fluffy tulle & lace underskirt, upper dress SAMSUNG CSCmade of kimono fabric with hook & eye closure in front and different lace decorations going around in light blue and silver. There is also obi and red string for the waist. Rein has M-bust. The upper dress has white inside lining, skirt part is without lining to avoid too much puffiness.

I had some issues with the long wig. As I got home I immediately wanted to change that into something short. However, it looks nice with the dress.

We had a small doll meet-up with Tiinyan and ElysDoll. Thank you again for such a fun day!

With ElysDoll we continued to take pictures in the nearby park – I think we were there for almost 3 hours ^^ Below are few of my favorite pictures, a group pictured and ElysDoll’s beautiful Kano, a semi-white ddh06 with Rein.

SAMSUNG CSCThis month I have been working on several commissions as well as trying out different new things. Bloomers in MNF/Unoa size ~

Other things just for fun. A mini size Pastel Deer Dress was commissioned for a Lillycat Millie Choupie. This was done based on measurements. It came out a bit different but overall looking like a small version of the Lillicat Ellana sized dress. A Cute thing. Can you spot certain differences?

And for the next month: a new pureneemo dress set (will also fit for Pullip and Blythe),  A short blue kimono robe for Lillycat or Unoa/MNF, Ribbon headbands and perhaps something like in the following picture 🐱

So stay tuned!

2018 January is here ~!

Hello hello ~!

The new year has started rolling and agenda is full of new ideas to try out. Including colors, lots of lace, ribbons and bow ties and of course some black and white to balance out.

Tsukifly New year’s promises: 1) In 2018 I will focus on making more complete outfit sets in different sizes. 2) I shall make at least one new listing every month on Etsy.

For January that 1 new listing target has been reached as Dark Seamstress dress set in SD/DD size was added on Etsy yesterday. I have been finishing these in progress SD/DD dresses as my priority for now. Last month the time keeper and now the dark seamstress. I am pleased they both are now completed.

Dark Seamstress was inspired by various little sewing related details I have sewn into the dress set. Most of them around the layered upper skirt and on the arm band. The set has 7 parts and it can be warn by various SD / DD sized dolls. Hisa (Volks Lorina) has been acting diligently as my model ~

SAMSUNG CSC

I have been meaning to try out making an alpaca wig for Junia (Soom Juchy). She has been wearing her default for far too long. She would also need some new clothes as he dress she is now is far too dark for her. I am rather pleased what comes to wig. Especially as this is my first try in making one. Such a lovely alpaca hair in just right color ~! It came out a lot fluffier than I perhaps intended but no harm done. Now I certainly have some extra for few little braids. The wig size of Soom faery tends to be tricky too, so this way you are sure to get a wig that fits ^-^

SAMSUNG CSC

I have been making more diamond deer headbands. First batch with slightly rosy color diamonds is currently on Etsy. Later will have another batch with slightly violet color diamonds, so keep an eye on the updates. Freya (Lillycat Ellana) is such a pretty lady with her new Leekeworld wig. I just love those blue stripes ~

What is coming next? I will complete new dresses in Yo-Sd size (two in progress). Additionally I am working on a Pullip dress set and few commissions so we shall see what is the schedule of new things for Etsy.

Thank you for your support!

Freya’s spring style & pillows

Do you know the saying that shoemaker’s own children don’t have any shoes? At least in Finland we have such a saying. In this case I am not a shoemaker but perhaps we could stretch the saying: seamstress’ girls don’t have any clothes. So very true around here.

Because, with the saying or not, the situation is pretty severe with my crew of girls. Even if I consider myself a seamstress I seem to avoid making clothes for my girls. With that concluded I decided to try to make something with a serious intent for Freya for the coming spring time, using one of the previously completed corset tops as a basis for the dress. And I must say I am pretty happy with Freya’s new pastel mint style.

A hint of yellow and green is hidden in the skirt. Tiny silk flowers. Previously completed flower headband adds in some color to the whole. I cannot seem to be able to decide which hair style is better…

One of a kind pillow covers on Etsy

I mentioned these in my previous posts. Finally completed, in two different sizes and designs, you can find these unique decorative elements from Etsy. Japanese design comes in size 50 x 50cm, pretty common size for decorative pillows. Pillow case has four wooden buttons on its back-side. Rectangular pillow comes in size 50cm x 24 cm, a bit of an odd size. It closes from the other end with four pattern buttons. The fabric in itself is Studio Ghibli’s Kiki’s Delivery Service Jiji cat -themed. Both are great decorative elements for anyone who loves Japanese style or the said movie. Have a further look at Etsy.

il_fullxfull.1186315032_gzj0Lovely sunshine has inspired me to do more decorative elements. However, there are more than few designs that are waiting for me to proceed. More news coming up soon!~

Tsukifly spring updates

SAM_5009

With the lovely sunshine over the weekend mornings I ventured out of the bed early to have a photoshoot with Freya. Some of the Tsukifly creations got updated pictures. Like the above Black/Gold framed dress.

SAM_5015

I have kept mentioning this walolita outfit in some of my previous posts and finally, here it is. It is a 5 piece outfit set with japanese red bunny fabric kimono styled bolero, pleated red upper skirt, white lace under skirt, bow tie obi and a flower headdress. A great outfit set for the coming summer time with cute little details. Sleeves are elbow length in traditional kimono style. Find the outfit set from Etsy: Red Walolita outfit.

I was inspired to try out the making of panties. So a complete set for Lillycat was created. The white corset style top was already on offer alone but I thought it needed the panties to complement it. Now I am happy with the outcome. Check the updated listing here: Lillycat white underwear set.

Previously I took the picture with Lunetta showing off the winter style by Tsukifly. The Duffle coat was part of the set but not yet available through Etsy. I assure you this cute and fluffy duffle will be available shortly. Some of the pictures still need to be resized.

On-going projects

If I thought there were many on-going / unfinished projects around before, now there is even more. And if we count in the photoshoot plans etc. not sewing related but otherwise dolly related projects we have even more outstanding number. Challenges for me but nothing I cannot cope with in due course. One by one whistling as you go by.

As I was travelling around last week I couldn’t get the pictures of the new headdress up on Etsy or here. However, here it is. With somewhat similar design as those odd cat headdresses (still coming – teaser on Instagram) and those bunny headdresses already on Etsy. I am yet to decide is this animal or just fluffy or what. Cute in any case and on Etsy. Vanamo (Volks Kurumi) as my model. Her head is one of those “famous” Volks heads, 9-10inch, so the headdress will also go nicely for Pullips and Blythes. Colors used: white (tassels), creamy (headdress), ribbons (black).

Pullip related commission set and a white bunny hat

I finished a commission outfit for Pullip. This nurse outfit + hat were made according to a reference with with certain alterations due to size, fabric and my own visions. I am glad to see it turned out well although I had certain worries as to the sturdiness of the fabric.SAM_4672

Another commission was a soft white bunny hat with a removable bow tie. The hat has one snap fastener to allow it to be fastened under doll’s chin. The red bow tie is removable with a small safety pin to secure it.

Unrelated to dolls is my own project to make a bed cover for my own bed. I wanted something calm and white so I ended up going fabric shopping to see my options. I concluded it would cost around the same if not less to make it myself versus to buy one. So the benefits with uniqueness and the fun of making it/selecting the fabrics sealed my choice. I went for the fabrics – the core of the cover (my fabric choices on Instagram) and the other fabric. Possibly a third quilt fabric for the other side to make it more thick. Now I need to attach the other fabric on the hem of the other, to line the whole thing around. The estimated project size is around 150cm x 240cm.

At the same time two very fluffy animal hats (Lillycat 8-9inch size) and a commission white bunny hat are waiting for inside linings.

With regard to some props. For one, I finally managed to get my doll sized couch around. Additionally I found some other props which I will have to see if they are for my use or if I should offer them for sale as some of the projects I originally got them for aren’t around or relevant anymore. I shall see to that over the coming weekend.

And please check Instagram for occasional project related pictures 🙂
