December recap

Or can I call this a recap while this December is only half way through?

It has been a productive month. There are changes in my personal life so there has been some extra time to use for sewing projects. So happy about that fact. I also feel that while it has been somewhat quiet for quite a while when I speak about dolly plans I have also lots going on there. Plans, story updates, style updates. Dolly hobby is periodic at present.

Not too many flattering pictures of Unoa Elder girls in Google picture search. Apparently enough to hook me though. Not that Google was ever the sole place to look for dolly pictures. I have had this little plan of Ange for quite a while now. And my wishes had been heard! Now I have one on layaway. Her name will be Yuiko (thoughtful child) and she is an apprentice witch. Initial plan is to make her something colorful yet dark while her wig will be pastel cute. However, it would not be the first time when a doll turns into something completely different once she arrives so I cannot say for sure. Let’s wait and see. She is scheduled to come around in Spring ~

Then Tsukifly updates.

Starting with two Vintage cardigans in SD and DD sizes, made out of lovely vintage knitted fabric with vintage lace details. I am pleased with the outcome and they are a great addition with any Tsukifly dress as well.

Tsukifly Vintage White Cardigands

Second in line is a one-piece vintage time keeper dress for SD.  I have had “raw” sketch of this dress on a mannequin for ages. It really has taken way too long to complete but I amSAMSUNG CSC pleased how it turned out. A combo of embroidered off-white lace, light blue taffeta, brown polka dot fabric and vintage laces and bow ties. A clock necklace will be included with the dress.

Last but not least on the list are probably my personal favorites of the month. Diamond deer flower headbands. This patch on Etsy includes 2 tiny/slim mini sized, 2 MSD/Lillycat sized and 1 bigger Pullip / SD / Blythe sized headdresses. They are so cute and delicate. I just need more paper flowers for any future plans, these ate my last ones on storage.

*Update* Tsukifly Custom Pullip Akiko

I felt the candy set didn’t quite match with Akiko so I completed a better suited outfit set to go with her. With fully and lively Japanese themed dress and accessories she would be an an unique addition to any Pullip family. Find the updated listing here.

So to recap, a lot of new updates, additions and great fun in making all of these. Thank you everyone for your continuing support!

I must also make a small note on one of my lovely buyers who was kind enough to send me a picture of her doll wearing a Tsukifly coat bought through Etsy shop. The styling in the picture was wintery and receiving it really made my day. Thank you!

I believe that is almost everything for now. Next wee I will travel towards North for Christmas and I have pretty strong feeling no new blog entries will be made for this year. Please do keep an eye on Instagram as I am more likely to update few Christmas theme pictures around there ~

On-going projects

If I thought there were many on-going / unfinished projects around before, now there is even more. And if we count in the photoshoot plans etc. not sewing related but otherwise dolly related projects we have even more outstanding number. Challenges for me but nothing I cannot cope with in due course. One by one whistling as you go by.

As I was travelling around last week I couldn’t get the pictures of the new headdress up on Etsy or here. However, here it is. With somewhat similar design as those odd cat headdresses (still coming – teaser on Instagram) and those bunny headdresses already on Etsy. I am yet to decide is this animal or just fluffy or what. Cute in any case and on Etsy. Vanamo (Volks Kurumi) as my model. Her head is one of those “famous” Volks heads, 9-10inch, so the headdress will also go nicely for Pullips and Blythes. Colors used: white (tassels), creamy (headdress), ribbons (black).

Pullip related commission set and a white bunny hat

I finished a commission outfit for Pullip. This nurse outfit + hat were made according to a reference with with certain alterations due to size, fabric and my own visions. I am glad to see it turned out well although I had certain worries as to the sturdiness of the fabric.SAM_4672

Another commission was a soft white bunny hat with a removable bow tie. The hat has one snap fastener to allow it to be fastened under doll’s chin. The red bow tie is removable with a small safety pin to secure it.

Unrelated to dolls is my own project to make a bed cover for my own bed. I wanted something calm and white so I ended up going fabric shopping to see my options. I concluded it would cost around the same if not less to make it myself versus to buy one. So the benefits with uniqueness and the fun of making it/selecting the fabrics sealed my choice. I went for the fabrics – the core of the cover (my fabric choices on Instagram) and the other fabric. Possibly a third quilt fabric for the other side to make it more thick. Now I need to attach the other fabric on the hem of the other, to line the whole thing around. The estimated project size is around 150cm x 240cm.

At the same time two very fluffy animal hats (Lillycat 8-9inch size) and a commission white bunny hat are waiting for inside linings.

With regard to some props. For one, I finally managed to get my doll sized couch around. Additionally I found some other props which I will have to see if they are for my use or if I should offer them for sale as some of the projects I originally got them for aren’t around or relevant anymore. I shall see to that over the coming weekend.

And please check Instagram for occasional project related pictures 🙂

Tsukifly 2017 lauch

First update for the year 2017!

It is white and snowy outside and few snapshots of the recent updates for Tsukifly Etsy shop were just taken. Few winter accessories. Fluffy and cute headdresses and hats.

SAMSUNG CSC

I did post preview pictures of the products already in my previous post but since I did not have my lovely girls on my christmas travels these appear in Etsy only just now with their model pictures.

Here is Lunetta modelling one of the smaller headdresses. There are two available. Size is suitable for both MSD and Tiny. There is also one in Cream color for SD size.

Another addition for now was those two animal hats for bigger size – Pullip and Blythe. 10 inch heads in general. SAMSUNG CSCHere is Tsukifly Pullip custom Papillon modelling the cat hat.

I have also discounted certain products for New Years sale section to make room for new designs and plans. I hope they are to you liking!

Two dress sets are coming shortly as I have time to finish few last pieces for both of them. One in Pullip/Blythe size and one in Dust of Dolls size. Both of these sets will include a dress and a tulle skirt.

I shall update more plans and picture sooner or later. In the meantime please check Etsy and Flickr.

A comprehensive Etsy update

This time it appears I made my monthly update a bit too early. The past two weekends have been quite productive for me. Tsukifly Etsy shop will grow in the amount of unique clothing pieces on offer. Rightly so for the coming Christmas market if you think commercially? And I know there will be more to come and quite active updating this weekend and the next. For that reason I will post this extra post for this month to show off some of the new pieces.

Probably half of these pieces have been completed earlier but are around now with some proper sets of sale photos.

Let’s start with some accessories.

Tsukifly doll sized notebook. I made this already quite long ago. Really loved this scrapbook paper I came across and just had to try out. I think it turned out cute with lace

Hisa and the notebook – size reference

flower details and framed detail in front. Otherwise it is usable notebook with lined pages so you may write your doll’s story or make notes inside.Size is suitable for SDs or bigger dolls, otherwise may be a bit too big(?)

Hisa, my Volks Lorina, is the model for the majority of new sale photos. For one she loves books and reading. Especially old romantic novels like Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. She is also perfect for the new animal headdresses for she likes this kind of cute but elegant stuff. She has been in closet for too long, now is her time to shine again.

Fluffy Animal Headdresses

Inspired by the winter knocking to my door, I created something fluffy and warm to complement your doll’s winter clothing. Made out of a fluffy white fabric, these headdresses are cute and soft to touch. There are two styles available, one with cat ears and one with bear ears. They have lovely beige colored ribbon details. Made to fit for 9-10 inch heads such as Volks SD/SD13/SD16, Luts and Pullip heads. Now found from Etsy.

Off-white lace dress is one of my personal favorites

First up is the Tsukifly Off-white lace dress for Lillycat cerisedolls. Modelled by Freya, my Lillycat Ellana, the dress is made of several layers of lovely off-white lace with white and rose ribbon/lace details. Some of you may remember those first pictures already quite a
while ago. Now, I can say finally, proper pictures for Etsy. More lace only clothing. I seem to like this material~

Then, as those few Pullip dresses previously offered in Etsy have gone I thought to offer few short, above knee-high dresses in Pullip size. These needed some work as I had no patterns in Pullip size and thus had to draw something from scratch. In total three different designs. First of the three with My melody fabric has been completed already before and will fit also for Obitsu body

SAMSUNG CSC

Alice Pullip dress

. The other two dresses are made with Pullip type 4 body, Tsukifly’s newest custom, Papillon de nuit as their model. Second design is the simplest of the three and requires some work with its ribbon fastening going all the way down. Third of the three is made from the same fabric as Alice within Alice dress set for Unoa/MNF. I hope they answer the demand for Pullip sized clothing.

Kimono project – two completed kimonos

There are two designs. One is in beige background and the other red/orange. Freya looks good in both of them. Makes my choice harder as I originally thought it would be nice to keep one of the two for her as she has too little clothes of her own.

In general the designs are similar, however, small differences can be found. Beige has separate collar fabric with small visible stitches. The red/orange has no collar fabric and hidden stitches. Lining in beige is white, other has lining in light rose color. Obi for beige is partly out of the same fabric as the kimono itself. For the red/orange I wanted to make one which was more of a stand out. Thus white, red and beige colors without pattern with eye & hook closures. Both sets have a head bow tie made out of the other set’s main kimono fabric. So it is not a mix-up that they are not matching with the kimono sets they come with. That little fun detail.

I also completed two pairs of patterned socks which I have been meaning to complete for a while already. I quite like how they look with the kimono on Freya. I am also pleased with them as they are a bit thicker than a regular stocking fabric, thus they provide a bit of protection for the leg and can also fill in a bit over-sized shoes. My girls certainly seem to have too many of such shoes or a too little feet(?) The inside of the stockings is white so no danger of staining either. The other pair is in MSD / Slim mini size, now tried out by Lunetta. Find them from Etsy.
