Since when did my dolly blog turn into a food and lifestyle blog? Gradually apparently. (^o^;) Don’t worry, this is occasional but there are certain other things I like to share with you from time to time.
Let’s start with this very special salad. Since it was a gorgeous day on Friday, weather was sunny and warm, everything turning green and flowers blooming, I wanted to mark it somehow. As I love making different kind of salads I thought here I have a great opportunity. This is one of my special favorites with a very Finnish and local specialty called bread cheese (Originally from Southern Ostrobothnia, Northern Finland and Kainuu.).
Recipe (how to make your own):
Ingredients: 1/3 cucumber, chopped; any salad you like, the amount you prefer (I used oak leaf salad); a good slice of bread cheese (any other cheese will do as well); one spring onion, chopped; blueberries. After taking the ingredients out and chopping the ones that need chopping / slicing just put them together and a great salad is done for you to enjoy. Tip: if you like sweet, I would recommend some honey on top of the salad to give it extra sweet flavor.
I also had a great pleasure to stop by at the Post office on my way home to pick up a package from my dear friend Irene ~ When I was visiting her previously I was hooked to these Milk tea things. They are great in flavor and may be stored for quite a long while. Also work friendly, easy to take with you if only hot water is available. Apparently now they have new flavors (!!). I also got some nice fabrics to use for the dresses. These will go well with some of the fancy pattern fabrics I have or just on their own.
As you may guess these Milk Tea bags are not generally sold/available in Finland. So far I have found one place that has occasional stock of 3:15 PM brand, in one flavor only. And I know they have close to ten to choose from! Once I got home and opened the package my little fairy Junia went to inspect the pile of Milk Tea found from inside. The amount of milk tea totally caught me off guard! Thank you dear!! Four different flavors to test and compare: Sun Moon Lake; Roasted; Early Grey and Matcha Latte from another brand (Barista Coffee).
Milk Tea Table – a comparison table
Roasted Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Most basic / traditional by flavor. Similar to black tea + milk with hint of added sweetness.
Early Grey Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Most distinct in flavor, Basis in Early Grey black tea, perhaps its the bergamot that makes the difference?
Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Sweetest flavor of these three. Flowerlike taste. Reminds me of the 3:15 PM Rose flavor. My favorite.
Matcha Latte (Barista Coffee) – Matcha is great in flavor, again sweetness comes with it. Less hassle compared to if you make your own Matcha all the way through. Not in a separate tea bag though, Matcha powder is loose in the bag itself. Need to watch out how to open.
Flavors and their descriptions are my interpretations of them. Perhaps they will serve as an indication what to expect / which one to choose depending on whether you prefer a more sweet or less sweet option. In any case I totally recommend you to have a try if you come across them somewhere.
