Halloween mummies?

HAPPY HORRIBLE HALLOWEEN for Everyone!

SAMSUNG CSC

What happened with new designs and a bjd Halloween outfit? It is likely my plans will not be made in time this year either. Maybe if I start early next year I will make it in time? I wonder how everything seems to pile up just when you are suppose to make something for some specific time…

Lately I have been able to work on my sewing projects only during weekends. Due to other pressing matters and studies/exams also the time during those weekends has been less than usual. The result is as you see.

But! I have had a wonderful time completing a clothing custom outfit in Pullip size. Many of the patterns needed special consideration, the small size being a challenge. Now the whole outfit has been finished and shipped off. Especially the front of the winter jacket was to my liking. Functional although it did require some concessions from the original design. Conclusion: I enjoyed this particular commission very much!

As you see I have an unusual Halloween mascot for this blog post. A mummy? And very unhalloweenlike set-up… Its too white. And where are all the dark, scary and shady stuff? Witches, broomsticks and bats. Black cats with piercing yellow eyes!

Last week I was pleasently surprised by a package sent by my dear from all the way from Asia. Thank you so much dear! This little one (still without a name), apparently my first Pureneemo (=^^=!), was found from the inside along with all the other amazing things including snacks, tea and refills for my pens<3~

I am planning a photoshoot with the new girl and Mella. Although I do admit that she would need a name and something proper to wear (roll bandage) is hardly a proper outfit…

I did a comparison of different 3:15PM milk tea flavors sometime before (check the previous post) and now I have few new flavors to add. Found from this amazing package

I received! This 3:15PM restock included these three flavors:

pala

Milk Tea Table – a comparison table

Okinawa Brown Sugar Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Distinct flavor. Strong caramel like odour / flavor, suppose its a result from the brown sugar? No idea whether hibiscus flowers are just for the show…

Fruity Rose Flavor Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Most flower like flavor. Sweet but not too much. And I must say this is my favorite out of all 3:15PM milk teas I have tasted so far~

Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea (3:15 PM) – Sweetest flavor of these three. Flowerlike taste. Reminds me of the 3:15 PM Rose flavor (above) still a bit more sweeter.

It is soon time for my montly update so I will leave info regarding Etsy updates into that post. Keep your eyes open for it! Coming up soon~

Spectrum of colors

Lovely autumn colors are finally here! I have wishes to go and collect some nice leaves for craft things during the coming weekend. For those of you who have checked Instagram you may have seen few captions from Finnish forest from the previous weekend. I was hunting mushrooms for a pie which I must say turned out so good (my first time!) that there was hardly a piece left on the next morning.

Junia, my little forest sprite, the guardian of a hidden forest fall, finally got

SAMSUNG CSCa new dress for herself. This was rather to test a new pattern than to have a specific idea but I like the outcome. Since the first dress was off-white lace dress I wanted something darker with few details. The lovely fabric has been previously brought from China by my dear friend. There are still few pieces left to make lovely little things. =^^=

Overall I like the mini gem/faery size from Soom. Delicate, tiny and beautiful. Otherwise quite a tricky one to find clothing / wigs / eyes for though!

Moreover, I am happy to start off a commission work during the weekend. This relates to an animation I am myself a fan of so I suppose it will spark my inspiration for the whole process. Completing this commission will be my priority for the next few weeks.

Halloween is coming too. It is one of my favorite seasonal celebrations but despite this fact I have been unable to complete anything suitable to the theme during these last two years. This year, provided I have enough time I plan to complete a set for Pullips / Pureneemos just in time for Halloween. Looking forward to it even myself!

So as the seasons turn towards the coming winter I notice my time to be somewhat limited. I must confess I haven’t been able to keep up with one post per week so my next statement and objective is to post at least one post per month. Therefore there may be more or there might not be more but at least this one per month. I have been satisfied with the regular monthly schedule so sticking with it as a basis seems like a good idea.

Lune has found her style, more or less, and seems to hang out around my many books.

On-going projects

If I thought there were many on-going / unfinished projects around before, now there is even more. And if we count in the photoshoot plans etc. not sewing related but otherwise dolly related projects we have even more outstanding number. Challenges for me but nothing I cannot cope with in due course. One by one whistling as you go by.

As I was travelling around last week I couldn’t get the pictures of the new headdress up on Etsy or here. However, here it is. With somewhat similar design as those odd cat headdresses (still coming – teaser on Instagram) and those bunny headdresses already on Etsy. I am yet to decide is this animal or just fluffy or what. Cute in any case and on Etsy. Vanamo (Volks Kurumi) as my model. Her head is one of those “famous” Volks heads, 9-10inch, so the headdress will also go nicely for Pullips and Blythes. Colors used: white (tassels), creamy (headdress), ribbons (black).

Pullip related commission set and a white bunny hat

I finished a commission outfit for Pullip. This nurse outfit + hat were made according to a reference with with certain alterations due to size, fabric and my own visions. I am glad to see it turned out well although I had certain worries as to the sturdiness of the fabric.SAM_4672

Another commission was a soft white bunny hat with a removable bow tie. The hat has one snap fastener to allow it to be fastened under doll’s chin. The red bow tie is removable with a small safety pin to secure it.

Unrelated to dolls is my own project to make a bed cover for my own bed. I wanted something calm and white so I ended up going fabric shopping to see my options. I concluded it would cost around the same if not less to make it myself versus to buy one. So the benefits with uniqueness and the fun of making it/selecting the fabrics sealed my choice. I went for the fabrics – the core of the cover (my fabric choices on Instagram) and the other fabric. Possibly a third quilt fabric for the other side to make it more thick. Now I need to attach the other fabric on the hem of the other, to line the whole thing around. The estimated project size is around 150cm x 240cm.

At the same time two very fluffy animal hats (Lillycat 8-9inch size) and a commission white bunny hat are waiting for inside linings.

With regard to some props. For one, I finally managed to get my doll sized couch around. Additionally I found some other props which I will have to see if they are for my use or if I should offer them for sale as some of the projects I originally got them for aren’t around or relevant anymore. I shall see to that over the coming weekend.

And please check Instagram for occasional project related pictures 🙂

Another sewing weekend

It seems I pile up the inspiration and the implementation of the ideas for these weekends. During the week you either don’t have the energy or you don’t have the time. More than once I wonder how great it would be if there were more hours in a day…

I have been doing quite a many projects simultaneously and its satisfying to see them coming together one by one. Of course, while they are in progress my working table looks pretty much like it will drown in disarray.

Pullip Dress set commission – In Progress

This is what I have been working on for the most part. A Pullip dress set commission. The set will consist of a hat and a dress with certain tiny details. While I have maintained some of the artistic freedom in putting it all together it resembles the design for which it is based on. I have also made another kind of closure solution for the whole dress. I am a fan of the hat too. Perhaps I shall try something colourful in similar design in BJD size later on? Pictures will follow at later stage ~

Pillow covers for anyone?

An idea of making decorative pillow covers available on Etsy has crossed my mind previously on few occasions. I have had this rather a good sized pillow cover completed for a while already. Now I finally got around to finish it. I probably went through several closing possibilities from simple ribbons to huge decorative buttons etc. A plain zipper was one too. Which option won? I will keep you in suspense for a while longer.

Face-up time

In winter time I usually don’t make too many face-ups because of the light and weather difficulties in this Northern country. However, some occasional exceptions may occur and this appears to be one of those.

When you have the inspiration you should make the most of it. So the Fairyland MNF 2014 Halloween head I have had rolling around my closet for a good while now got a face-up. Theme was wintary with snowflakes and tiny decorative details over her other eye. There are also some black spirals on the other side of her head but I realized this picture does not show them… Fortunately there are other shots to complement. As nobody seemed to be willing to adopt the little one with her blank face I hope she will have better chances now. Take a look at Den of Angels.

Monthly Update: April

I am happy to inform you that a lot has been done since my last update.

Tsukifly Cerisedolls off-white lace dress

Let me start by sharing a picture of a lace dress I completed for Freya. She was in need of something old-style and white but this time I wanted to make a one-piece dress. I must say I am happy with the outcome, kind of vintage style mix out of off-white lace with white details and lace choker. She would still need a new pair of shoes to complement the outfit.

*searching*

Bunny hat pattern needed some update and now a specific tiny/yo-sd pattern exists. For 6-7 inch heads. Otherwise the design is similar to those hats that have been completed earlier.

Bunny Hats – Tiny/Yo-SD – Etsy

Three new bunny hats were completed and will be available through Etsy. I was also commissioned one of these bunny hats of which you may find pictures below. The hat is modelled by Mina (Aileendoll Camellia).

Some issues exist with the new pattern or rather with the order in which the pieces are attached so some fine adjustments are to be done. Next pattern is big SD size (9-10inch) while Pullip (10 inches) and MSD (7-8 inch) need to wait a while. Still considering also whether a separate 8-9 inch would be needed.

Some of you may remember news of a certain Tsukifly Pullip custom set, which was originally completed to be on display at the last Dolliverse held in the Netherlands. Since that display I have made few fine adjustments to make the custom set more completed. Now she will finally be available through Etsy. Her name is Sarinna and she will come with a custom face-up, blind decorated eye chips, Goldenrod Leekeworld wig and a complete hand-sewn Tsukifly dress set. Her eyelids are decorated with lovely real light violet lace details ~! Personally I am happy with how she turned out and I do hope she will find a loving home. Perhaps I will be encouraged to consider another Pullip custom project in the future as well. It was quite a lot of fun to complete this set.

Now that I am finished with my most prominent news I will be off to update Sarinna and bunny hats to Tsukifly Etsy shop ~! I hope to see you around.
