March: Sweet Lolita & Cutiness

Updates now and other plans for the coming month.

I found one of my lace stashes and got inspired to use some of those for the new creations. As I also have a strong intention to use the fabrics from my box, those that I have accumulated over the years, the new pieces are from now on are likely to be both colorful as well as combinations of many great fabrics.

Sweet Lolita Mix & Match skirts – Lillycat & MSD sizes

Are you ready for some light blue sweet lolita skirts? These perfect Tsukifly Mix & Match pieces are one of a kind (OOAK) creations with slightly different details, available in Lillycat and MSD size.

Lillycat Sweet Lolita skirt has a high waist part and three rows of ribbons on the back side. It can be worn on top or under a shirt/corset. Small bow ties are positioned randomly  on the skirt and hem decorated with two different laces. Made out of sturdy light blue taffeta the skirt maintains its shape and can be worn with or without a separate tulle skirt.

MSD sized sweet lolita skirt has a polka dot brown/mint fabric for the waist and sturdy light blue taffeta for the skirt part. This skirt fastens with snap fasteners at the back and can be worn similarly on or under a shirt/top. Hem is lined with minty lace and ribbon bow ties are similarly randomly sewn over the skirt part.

Tulle & Lace skirts – Various sizes

Because girls can never have enough skirts and because those skirts that can be used with many different outfits are great multipurpose pieces I decided to turn some of the tulle and lace fabrics into skirts as I found some excess tulle from the box. More sturdy and some soft. Different colors. Enough lace for a skirt is more of a rarity, thus I anticipate that there will not be too many of those to come.

There will be a soft beige tulle skirt, a mint lace skirt and a pink sturdy tulle skirt available through Etsy soon. Working on the listings as we speak. All those may be used as a petticoat or on their own. All have an elastic waist band and therefore they fit for various sized dolls. Each of the skirts also comes with a small bow tie detail.

So things coming up – keep checking Etsy, blog and Instagram ~

September update

Since my last update there has been lots of fun and new ideas and creations.

On the working table this month we have (to start with): Leeke art-body commission (2/3 completed), a sleeveless MSD Polkadot dress and lace tops in various sizes (SD/MSD etc.).

Those of you who have been out with their sharp eyes have seen quite a few new listings pop-up in Tsukifly Etsy shop. The dress I described previously was completed for Supergem / SD16 rather than in more common SD/SD13. A new custom Pullip, Huurre is now available in Etsy as well. I hope you like her ~

Gem within new creations is the short Kimono robe for Lillycat Cerisedolls. Additionally I have found that this also fits for MSDs, Leeke Art-body etc. albeit may not sit smoothly. il_fullxfull.1035139518_sd76However, best fit is always for the one it was made for. This is knee-length kimono robe with a black wide satin ribbon to tie as a functional obi around the waist. It is without lining, neat seams.  There is also a snap-fastener to keep the kimono fastened without the obi, but it brings the detail for the whole.

Personally I am pleased with the Japanese kimono fabric and how well it turned out as a whole. Later I have plans for two long kimonos with lining. However, so far this is the only dark colored kimono there will be for now. Use the opportunity if black is what you are looking for.

I also completed one of my long-time projects, this flower parasol, which now makes its first appearance with the kimono robe. It is made of different sized foam and paper flowers, carefully attached on top of and around a metal frame of my own design. Lace is used for the handle to make it an easy fit for different doll’s hands and also functions as a nice detail.

Co29374385481_7e7dfbb7d0_zming up: A black satin corset top for Lillycat Cerisedolls. I must say that this is one of my personal favorites from Tsukifly products so far. A multi-use piece to make a festive whole. Black patterned satin fabric, black shoulder strap details and hook & eye closure with a cute light brown polkadot lining in the inside (light in color to avoid any staining).

The brass/silver dragonfly choker will also be available later. It is an accessory piece completed already a while ago but only now has emerged from the depths of the closet. Makes a lovely addition for this as well.

As can be seen new creations vary quite a lot. All the way from smaller mix & match pieces to full outfit sets. Quite many of the newest pieces are in Lillycat size, the focus of August. Now for this month the focus will be on regular MSD and slim MSD size. Then possibly going for even smaller with a dedicated month for Yo-SD/Tiny size. So you have some indication. On the other hand I will not say all the creations are confined in those particular monthly sizes. Thus, occasional pieces in other sizes are sure to appear. We will wait and see.

Additionally I have made some small changes and improvements to the appearances of my girls. Lunetta got a lovely blushing for her upper body (all thanks to Idaheika!) to bring in some color on her. Later I completed a manicure for her small fingers. Freya got new eyelashes with more volume and black color andsome more point in her face-up. Now I am looking for a mohair wig for Lunetta but so far the tiny size of her head has proven somewhat a challenge…

Monthly Update: March

First weekend of yet another month is before us. A great opportunity to share some of what has been done around here.

It has been rather dark and I haven’t had many chances to take proper pictures of some of the pieces I have completed. This weekend I feel I had a bit more luck with that. Not exactly a sunny day, but still bright enough to get my camera in focus.

Tsukifly lacy layers skirt (Lillycat/Slim SD)

Let’s start with a skirt design. Many layers of black lace with a pattern fabric waist piece. This waist piece may be hidden under a shirt etc. or it can be used to create a great detail for the outfit along with its buckle. In this display picture the skirt is used with a longer underskirt and to my eyes is a great addition to the outfit.

NB: the other side of the skirt has been made longer than the other on purpose to create a detail.

In my previous post two of the Lillycat Cerisedolls sized corset designs were completed. Following the tests with the created pattern, two additional corsets have been completed since then. A short greenish one and white with light-blue details. Both of these new ones have a corset lacing/braiding on both sides to add in details.

All of these three pieces will be added and available in Etsy in due course.

I have been experimenting with a cape design, but that is so far from being completed that I shall leave it to some other occasion.

Additionally a “forever project” has finally been continued. Having Freya and Sheri around seem to give me strange inspiration to proceed with writing their story. This time in a proper manner. So far it has consisted of a pile of short stories without any order, but over the time the order has formed. Only that I have shamefully decided to disregard this fact – I haven’t done anything to place the stories I have written so far into their proper order. Now I have started with this, so much so, that the first Chapter of this sequence  has been completed. A good basis to continue from.

February update

Look! I am keeping to my set schedule with these updates.

So, straight to the updates and news.

Tsukifly Etsy Shop : Some of the older designs have been added to Etsy. So far those include Tsukifly Bunny hats (in various sizes) as well as few flower bands and two short skirts for SD size. A bit of variation already, but I should say more is to come.

New sizes : I have few visiting models. Firstly A Dust of Dolls Spün, Bubbla and secondly, Konomi, a Leekeworld Kiko with a curious DollLeeke Art Volume Body. So perhaps these visiting models get me to try out something in different sizes a bit. Thirdly a lovely Lillycat Cerisedolls Ellana, Freya arrived to fill in the gap for this curious size. Something in this size has already been tested by now so read further to discover what exactly.

New designs : Previous post was about winds of relocation and I have a feeling this one is about winds of new ideas or something such. It was probably not very innovative to go for a corset design as my first try out in Lillycat Cerisedolls size. I have seen corsets around quite a lot. But, my thing is probably the usage of certain style/patterned fabrics.

Additionally I decided to make the first two corsets without inside lining in order to make the pieces in less time and available with lower price (less working hours = lower price in this case). My aim being that these corsets are still durable and look cute even without inside lining and are (at least in my opinion!) great for any Lillycat girl to wear.

More corset designs are likely to come, the two first ones were to test the pattern and a more thick fabric, whereas the following try out will be from a different kind of fabric so we shall see if this requires some alternative measures.

These two are likely to be available through Etsy once I have time to complete their listing (pictures and description).

Overall I must say I am satisfied to the pattern and its functionality and fitting. Perhaps next to come are some skirt designs, a dress and bloomers in this size. Still a lot of work to be done with those though!

You may also see a glimpse of a shawl type design (how to name it?) on Freya (in light green color) but the pattern needs quite a lot of adjusting. I think it looks cute like this as well so perhaps more about it later.

Bubbla modelling a new bright outfit set for Dust of Dolls.

I have also completed a kind of outfit set in Dust of Dolls size, it comes with a short shirt with lace lining and bloomers made out of some patterned fabric. I couldn’t resist the big ribbon… This first try is rather a bright combination, I try to make the second so that it will look less striking.

It seems I have taken a different approach into the making process of the Tsukifly clothing pieces. The use of patterns has increased whereas before I worked largely without any patterns. But since some designs are such that they are made in different colors multiple times over, the use of patterns make it a lot easier. Although I must say, to keep the design philosophy of Tsukifly, that each piece will still be OOAK (one of a kind), either in size or in fabrics/other details. Thus 100% similar design will not be made again.

All in all I am happy that I have found the time to complete these new pieces and I hope to adjust them further to make them fit even better. More updates will follow later.

If any of the new designs are specifically to your liking or you wish to inquire whether something similar could be made in different color etc. you are welcome to contact me and we may discuss the possibilities.
